How prepared are you as a public speaker or presenter?
Being 100% prepared before you deliver your speech or presentation is vital to your public speaking confidence.
Just like exams at school and university, when you studied and knew your stuff, you may have been nervous about the whole ordeal of sitting an exam and worrying about which questions would be included, but you still felt confident in the knowledge that you were ready for the big day.
Preparation for your speech or presentation starts long before you deliver it.
You need to:
Understand your audience and their issues and prepare a presentation that they will love, and from which they will benefit.
Rehearse so much that know your content like the back of your hand
Create and use a presentation checklist to ensure that nothing falls through the cracks. Check out the importance of presentation checklists in this blog post
It's almost impossible to be cool, calm and collected on the day if you have left everything to the last minute and not invested enough time, energy and care into your preparation.
